Past Community YOga instAllations

Freedom Movement wednesdays 6pm-7:15Pm Location:TBA Weekly

Partnering with different performance spaces and galleries, we invited Black people to take up space on the mat in predominately white institutions. As we move like art to perfectly curated r&b, we connect to ourselves and our inner creativity. Incorporating sound bowl healing, thought journals and guided meditation for a fully immersive wellness experience.

A seat at the table

Wednesdays 6:30-7:30pm
the first unitarian chUrch of Cincinnati

The First Unitarian Church has partnered with Alexander Shelton in a weekly yoga instillation that asks Are you weary of the ways of the world? Have you ever felt righteous anger? Have you tried running away from melancholic cranes in the sky? Have you developed unhealthy coping strategies to cope with a sick society? I invite you to "A Seat At The Table" a yoga class directly inspired by Solange Knowles as we explore "Where do we go from here?". Allow me to hold space for you to self-heal in a class designed F.U.B.U as we practice An Ode to Self Care with soul stirring R&B/ Hip-Hop filling the air.

This class is designed for beginners but all experience levels are welcomed. I have a few yoga mats, if you do not have one. Please bring a Pen and Journal as we start each class with a writing prompt. The class is donation based so pay what you can! Let's Rise and heal together! This is an event not to miss!!

Reclaiming My Time

Mondays 6:30pm- 7:30pm New Prospect Summit Center

"Reclaiming My Time" is a new yoga series, directly inspired by the words of Congresswoman Maxine Waters, a proclaimation turned moniker turned movement has found its way into a yoga class. I challenge myself and community to reclaim our healing, space and automony, by reclaiming ourselves as priorities and use our energy as judiciously as possible to sustain not only ourselves and community but the benevolent work we are doing to make the world brighter. We will meet every monday at 6:30pm in the beautiful Dance Studio of New Prospect Baptist Church's Summit Center (1580 Summit Road Roselawn, Cincinnati, Ohio).

There will be a custom soul stirring playlist and some commmunity mats available for those who do not have a mat. "Reclaiming My Time" is a donation based community yoga class, designed for beginners. Please wear clothes you can stretch in (nothing fancy, a tee shirt and shorts will do), a journal and pen for writing prompts, and a reuseable water container.
